Frequently Ask Questions
On Using the WiFi Decoder
Please read the FAQs first if you have a problem before contacting us.
Q. How can the WiFi Decoder find the password of a secured WiFi
connection?
A.
Every packet sent on a wifi connection contains the password for
verification. Our software can capture, analyze and crack the password
with enough data. We suggest that you watch the Video Guide on
www.wifidecoder.com and read the USER MANUAL and FAQs first before
using the WiFi Decoder. They are also on the Driver Disc.
Q. Can I use the WiFi Decoder on my Notebook Computer?
A. Yes. Most WiFi Adapters in a Notebook Computer are very low powered
and has a range of less than 20 meters. The WiFi Decoder is so powerful
that it can receive WiFi connections up to 2 km away in open space! And
it does not require a power adapter like other WiFi Adapters. It will
work on most computers with USB Ports.
Q. Can I use the WiFi Decoder in my country?
A.
Yes, as the WiFi Decoder does not require an AC Adapter, It can be used
in any place with a PC or Laptop and standard WiFi connections, as WiFi
standards are the same worldwide.
Q. What happens if I have problems using the WiFi Decoder?
A.
If you cannot find the solutions here, please email us with the specific
problems to wifidecoder@gmail.com. We will try to solve them for you
ASAP.
Q. When I boot from the Disc, I cannot see the Icons on the bottom of
the screen.
A. Try to adjust the resolution of the screen.
Q. I tried to boot from the disc but failed.
A.
Place the BT4 Disc in the Drive and RESTART your computer. It will boot
from the Disc in most cases. If it fails to boot from Disc, it means the
Default boot up drive of your computer is not the CD Drive.
Press F11 (or F4 or DELETE or F12 or other F keys, depending on the PC,
it will show on your screen for a few seconds during booting) during
booting to enter Boot Up Manager and select CD Drive as the Boot
Up Drive.
You can also set the 1St Boot Up Drive as CD Drive on the
BIOS set up.
Q. Do I have to run the Decoder software Disc boot up every time I want
to use the WiFi Decoder?
A.
No, after you have decoded the passwords of the connection, just write
them down and you can use it for as long as you want, or until the
administrator changes the passwords. In which case just run the Decoding
software again. You only have to enter the password once, it will be
saved and you only have to double click the connection to use it again.
Q. Can the Decoder work in computer running Windows 7, XP, Vista,
Linux or Mac?
A. Yes. Drivers for Windows XP, 7, Vista,
Mac and Linux are included in the package.
Q. Is it legal to use the WiFi Decoder?
A. If you are using the WiFi Decoder on
your own connection or connections that are unencrypted then there are
no legal issues at all. And as far as we know there are no laws banning
the sharing of an encrypted WiFi connection. But you should check it out
for your country first.
Q. Can the Decoding Software decode WPA connections?
A. You can use the spoonwpa to decode WPA
encryption but it will take much longer and it may not work every time.
The steps are similar as spoonwep.
Q. Can the owners know that I am using their WiFi connection?
A. Most probably the owner will not
notice someone unauthorized is sharing the connection. A good WiFi
connection can be shared by up to 20 users or more. There is also no way
to trace to you because it is wireless. To be truly anonymous just
change your computer name to user.
Q. Why I cannot decode some connections?
A. The software can only work when the
connection is actively in use. Please be patient or try again later.
Q. Can I use the Decoder in more than one computer at the same
time?
A. No, as the Decoder has to be plugged
to a computer using the USB Cable. Each Decoder can only work on one
computer.
Q. Can I buy the Decoding software only?
A. No. As the software may not work with
all WiFi Adapters, we do not sell the software separately.
Q. What do I do if the Decoder fails within the one year warranty
period?
A. Contact us first and then send the
Decoder back to us by Registered Post or Courier at your expense. We
will repair or replace one for you and send it back to you with free
shipping.
Q. I have reached 10,000 IVS and still have not found the WEP
key.
A. The WEP key is usually found between
15,000 and 25,000 IVS, so be patient.
Q. Can I be your agent?
A. Yes. Please use the Agent Inquiry page

the WiFi Routers and WiFi Decoder is only the receiver.

same time and click LOG OFF. Again press CONTROL-ALT DELETE at the
prompt then press ENTER. The computer will restart, press the eject
